I don't know what kind of tube tester you have access to, but my experience is testing rectifiers is much less informative than testing tubes with transconductance (triodes, pentodes etc.) You can find catastrophic failures, like shorts, but you already did that with your amp

. Actually predicting the lifetime is pretty iffy. Rectifiers don't amplify, they are a switch, either on or off. So there is no gain to measure and compare to a spec. They just work, until they don't. In theory a U52 ought to give decades of trouble free service. FWIW/JMO/YMMV and all that.
