12ay7 tubes

i recently came into possession of a par of NOS RCA 12ay7 tubes.  Has anyone used these in their torii?  i've an MK4.  wondering what folks thought.  or if i even can run these in my amplifier.  i'm assuming i can but they will just give me lower gain.

Do you use 12AX7s in your TORII? The 12AY7 is a lower gain version of the 12AX7 and I thought TORIIs used 6DJ8/6922/ECC88 tubes? I dont have a TORII , but to use them youd need an adapter and in theory they will give you higher gain, although Im not sure that would be a good idea.
