Captive power cord to IEC adapter?

Does anyone do this? Use a converter for the captive power cord to IEC to take advantage of better power cables?

So I have older electronics, a Nakamichi cassette deck, and music on cassettes I can't get anywhere else.

Will plugging the captive power cord on the Nak into a NEMA 5-15R to IEC C14 adapter, and then using an upgraded power cable, actually be a benefit?

Since nobody is going to build a modern cassette deck with IEC Wink

I remember thinking my clone Dynakit ST-70 would have benefited from IEC instead of the regular captive cord, how could they not upgrade to IEC (!), and then I actually saw this on a modern ST-70.
