Doug, how is the fan on the Delta 3? I haven’t tried the River 2 but folks here don’t seem to notice the fan being a problem. My Delta Pro fan can be obnoxious but not as noticeable for steady loud music. I seem to be more sensitive than others to these kinds of things too. Smiley

FWIW the EcoFlow River 2 Pro's fan only comes on when recharging. After it's charged and powering my Mystery amp, it is dead quiet with no fan operating.

Just so that everyone understands their options with how these can be used, my unit stays plugged in to the wall 24/7. The performance is exactly the same plugged in vs unplugged.

Even plugged in to the wall, the components are still powered by the EcoFlow battery. The only time noise is introduced is if the internal charge starts during stereo use. In the event that this happens, there is a buzz that occurs. If this happens to me during play, I go into the app and jump the recharge limit level down.

And I have yet to ever hear a fan come on with mine.

I’ve been following this thread with interest and have been checking out the choices on EcoFlows website, but haven’t yet pulled the trigger.

I’ll admit, there’s something that has confused me. The information online indicates that most of these units only provide, clean power when run strictly on battery power. When the units are plugged in, it goes into AC pass through mode and the power bypasses the battery and is fed to devices directly from the grid. Thus, there’s no difference when powering your components when the EcoFlow is plugged into the wall, than having the components plugged directly to the wall without the EcoFlow. So, the only way to benefit with perfect clean sine wave is to unplug the EcoFlow and run the components on the battery, then recharging when you aren’t using the components. The other option is to have the EcoFlow charged by solar panels instead of AC power from the grid. My understanding is there are also a few of the higher end units like the Delta Pro Ultra and a few others that allow you to bypass this grid passthrough mode?

Am I way off on this? Perhaps there are newer firmware updates that allow the standard River and Delta models to disable the grid pass through mode? Are people also using a power conditioner in the chain(I was considering this in place of any other power conditioning)? Geno, I’ll try to read thru later to verify which EcoFlow you’re using, but do you also have the ZLC plugged into it?

This is one of the concerns that has held me back and the higher end models are cost and size prohibitive. Hoping to get clarity.

I looked into this technology a couple of years ago as I was thinking about using a Tesla Powerwall to power my system.
At that time (say 5 years ago) I was warned that the inverters were the weak point as they didn't produce good enough sine waves.
Has there been a big upgrade in this technology?

In reading the problems that people are having with DC offset and such just gets me wondering if the systems aren't fully where they need to be yet?

I have a lot of experience with inverter power in uninterruptable power supplies, aka UPS, for computers and networks. And the AC that comes out of them is horrible. So I was both intrigued and skeptical of EcoFlow when they first showed up on the forum. I looked for any kind of details on the technology and couldn't find any.  But it is hard to argue with the positive experience of so many posters so they must be doing something right.

As for DC offset, is there a spec? To me, if it is noticeable it seems like a defect in the unit and I'd see about getting it replaced under warranty. JMO, but a "pure sine wave" shouldn't have DC. DC offset isn't good for any electronics, not just audio.

Yes. The older inverters used Modified Sine Waves, which damaged sensitive electronics, motors and compressors would hum, overheat, and fail prematurely, etc. That's why these new inverters advertise that they produce Pure Sine Waves.
