The Lost Recordings:  Sapphire edition

Just received an email from The Lost Recordings talking about their new line of Vinyl… The Sapphire Edition.  This line boasts a whole host of features that you can read about here….

https://thelostrecordings.store/en/products/thelonious-monk-live-in-rotterdam-19...

Needless to say that I had to buy one when I noticed that Kevin Gray was involved.  The albums are expensive, so I emailed the company and told them that I was a vinyl collector, and that I was interested in the Thelonious Monk album.  I humbly asked for a small discount being a newly registered customer, and to help offset the shipping charges from overseas. I did receive a nice email from the company who offered me a  5% discount. It’s a preorder…so once it arrives, I will report back.

Update:  the album finally arrived from France just shy of three months.  I have to say that it was absolutely worth the wait.  The album arrived in perfect shape.  The boxing was top notch with magnets to keep the front flap closed.  The insert material was a great read, which talked more about the Lost Recordings, as well as the information on the mastering process.  Taken from the original analog recordings, this is limited to only 4000 copies, and the stampers were changed out every 500 copies.  My copy is
#197.   This album came with a digital download card as well.

The clear vinyl is beautiful to look at, and the detail that went into the manufacturing process is impressive.  How does it sound…even on my modest rig, it was very clear with excellent detail free of pops and clicks.  I truly enjoyed this listen and would recommend this album if you are a Thelonius Monk fan.  Here an AI image I created from 6 photos I took on my cell phone.  I really like what Chat GPT came up with…kinda cool and retro.

Congrats! This is great music--I have tht two UHQCD set which sounds really great as well. This was an interesting tour with the Quartet expanded. . . I have other recordings of this tour as well. And the movie "Straight No Chaser" has filmed performances.

Yes the sound on this vinyl was exceptional.  I am now considering the Sapphire Edition of the Ella Fitzgerald and Art Blakey albums.  The Coltrane Album says unavailable.

The Fitzgerald and Blakey music is pretty good, and the sound on the Redbook versions I have is quite good.

Either thank you for encouraging me, or curse you for enabling me!  :D

I've wanted to check them out, and you were the spark that finally got me to try!

Thanks!
