Question about converters from 396A to 6922…I have 2 converters I use with a Western Electric 396A tube and some GE’s,today I went and got out my WE tube and there was humming and I noticed a liquid oozing out of the converter,I grabbed a GE with converter and also a thick oozy gunk all over the base of the converter ..how is this possible? I have converters of higher grade for my telefunken 83’,these 396 converters are cheap plastic, they put oozy gook in them, they Chinese, saving on copper? Oops,I’m looking online and noticed they come with labels..then I realize I have no labels, then it hits me…I used deoxit about a year back and the labels ‘melted’…hence the liquid my apologies to the Chinese. Still 18 hours per day.and not one inkling of ever changing this se84-25th anniversary amp..just plays music properly,no sitting thinking this could be better, this could be more, awesome amp!
