I read a review of this vinyl resale business based in Canada a month ago and thought I’d give it a go. The company, Vinyl Pursuit, offers albums at a “reasonable” price (the prices aren’t too high for me), and their niche is they put all of their inventory through an ultrasonic cleanse before packing it up and shipping.
They had a Japanese pressing of a remastered Supertramp Even in the Quietest Moment and it was listed as Near Mint. It was one of the more pricey albums but I was willing to pay (I got a 15% discount on my first order) as my copy was pretty worn out.
It arrived in a very well packaged box and was in fantastic shape. I decided to spin it without first running it through my own ultrasonic cleaner so that I could see for myself just how clean their records are.
I have to say, I was really disappointed with all of the snaps, crackles and pops with the album right out of the Mofi archival record sleeve. But after putting it through my own ultrasonic cleaner I found the album to be exactly what I had hoped.
They have several albums I’m interested in and at a much better price point and will probably try a few more purchases. But I will always clean them first before putting them on the platter.
