Torii MK5 for Sale
06/07/25 at 21:51:32

For Sale:
Decware Torii MK 5 in excellent condition with Level 2 Anniversary mods. Purchased 1 year ago. Includes factory Pelican case and new set of EL 34 tubes and all other original tubes. Not a single scratch and has been used with great care. A new order from Decware will take more than 3 years. Cut the line!
I have a Rachael arriving soon and it will be a better match for my small listening room. The Torii sounds amazing but is too much amp for my space. I used it with a pair of Omega speakers and it sounded wonderful.
Had an issue with a hum, sent back to Decware, found it was a blown EL34. A new set of tubes completely solved the issue and the amp is in perfect working condition. Pictures can be supplied upon request – just PM me.
Asking Price: $4700

If anyone is on the fence about this, go for it. I have the same amplifier with all anniversary mods, a Sarah, an 84 CKCS and a DH 45. The Torii is my absolute favorite. If I could only have 1 it would be the Torii.

The ToriiMK5 is no longer for sale. I decided to keep it and cancel the Rachael order. It sounds great and it makes no sense to have two amplifiers at this time. Thanks.

Smart move. I had a Torii MK5. Great amp. I ended up selling it though, and replaced it with an Audio Research VSi55....mainly because the AR is less expensive to own. I have a small space too  12x10 though pretty well treated. The Torii sounded great, as does the AR.

Agree, too many make regrettable quick decisions.  I'm in a 10x12 office as well and considered the Sarah 300b (less power), but after a few tweaks (Sophia 274b & Cryotone EL34's), I'm done.  Playing through my ERR radials, I can't imagine it sounding any better!

Enjoy

It is very sensible to think hard about an amp choice of Decware's stable. These are items you will wait for a long time for, and also items that can possibly be a lifetime supplier of fantastic sound.

If you love what you have and there is a great speaker/amp connection it makes sense to keep that and tailor the sound with tubes etc. I thought really hard and long about an SWE300B when I had the S384UFO3 monoblocks with all the mods. I loved those. I just had this feeling that they were JUST powerful enough for my speakers and a nagging suspicion that the 300B power would give them a more effortless presentation. I was right. . . I now have the sound I've dreamed of. The Monoblocks are fabulous--and I could have gone a different route and found better speakers for them--it's a testimony to how much I love my speakers that I went for the more powerful amp.

Also my experience is that the longer one has a Decware amp the better it sounds. "Seasoning" is a real thing with these components. So a bird in hand that will gradually sound even better? That's an item that makes a convincing argument to continue experiencing.

Hello Karl and Lon, thanks for the kind and supportive words! Yes, I decided to move the ToriiMK5 to my bigger room (Living room) and pair it with floorstanding speakers. I just ordered a pair of Zu DW6 and I plan to sell the Omega CAM's that I was using in the smaller room. I was trying to develop two Decware system at the same time and decided that I am better off concentrating my efforts in developing just one.

Lon, you are absolutely correct. The Toriimk5 is sounding better than ever and I have not even began to do any tube rolling. I expect to receive the Zu DW6 next week. I will certainly post and let you know how I like the sound.

Karl, I want to jump in with Coqui and compliment you on the setup. I know it's not how it looks, but for me it makes a difference. Beautiful.

Thanks Guys,  Yes, I like the "steam punk" look of Steve's amps!  Also the original victorian bases.  The Torii & CSP3 are 2024, the ZP3 is 2014 (and debating getting the full update).  Driving both my analog & digital sources with a Zrock2 (fully loaded).  Have moved up to the Sophia 274b II and Cryotone EL34's, will be seeking advice on the input stages but right now really sounds great!

Yes, I'm waiting to recover from my speaker purchase to begin tube rolling. I'm thinking to try the Sophia rectifier maybe with the Sophia EL34. Good to find other Torii owners to talk to!

Ramon,

Hope you like the Zus. I have the Union 6 Supremes and an Torii MK IV and really enjoy them.  The Zus took several months to settle down and smooth out but I hear that the DW6 are faster to break in. They are dynamic and fun speakers.

Hello Karl,

I am enjoying the DW6 with my Toriimk5! I no longer feel that I have a need for subwoofers; the base they produce seem enough for me. The room that I am using now is bigger than the one I was using before (20 by 25 feet approximately) and the Zu's are filling the room with sound. It is good to hear that the Zu's take a few months to break in. My next step is tube rolling. I am between the Electric Sophia El34 or KT66. Any ideas/opinions on tube rolling for the Torii?

Thanks,

Ramón

First wait for your Zus to settle down, maybe another month. She. You feel like they are now t slightly different every time you listen, it’s rolling time.

I listen most to GL KT66 but also like the GL KT77 and Psvane EL-34 PH. With the Torii, the input tubes also matter. You could start with some special NOS Amperex or Siemens tubes there.  Don’t do both signal and output at once because you won’t know which tube is causing the change.
I like to look at Brent Jesse’s website. His selection and his descriptions are great. Can get expensive fast though…
