Setup help please.
04/02/25 at 23:35:14
I have finally received my Lii Song Z15M speakers and have unpacked my amps and preamp and streamer from storage. It has been a while and I too have need of assistance with the wiring of all this equipment together.
I have:
2 SE84UFO2 amps
Schiit Saga pre
Wiim Pro streamer
Waiting for:
SMSL DAC
SMSL CD transport
I have a red and a white jumper from Steve as well as a pair of 2 into 1 RCA cables also from Steve. A simple diagram would really help my aging brain be able to get this all wired correctly. Thanks, Paul

Check out page 17 of the UFO manual for instruction on how to setup the amps for mono:
https://www.decwareproducts.com/_files/ugd/f1f204_c93e1ffb7c8d472bbc314c7d4cdae4...
Note the actual diagram is for balanced mono, which you do
NOT
want. Instead follow the instructions for bridging into mono at the top of the page.

Hi Paul, I have an interest in your setup so I hope you will keep us in mind as you move forward. Congrats on venturing into what I imagine will be a rewarding system.

My question really regards the connection of the 2 Y cables into the the 2 Decware amps Where do I put the 4 RCA ends into the amps then into the preamp? Also, I am confused by the red and white jumpers since I am using 2 - 2 channel amps wired as mono. I hope this isn't too simplistic but I really don't seem able to find this specific info on the owners manual or the Forum. Thanks for your patience. Paul

You run the red and white jumpers from the left and right output of your preamp towards the amps, red to right. You attach one side of the Y connector to the left input and the other side to the right input of each amp. Then you connect the single end of the Y connector to the red or white jumper from the preamp.
At least that’s how my setup works.

I have the jumpers on the speaker terminals L+ to R- on the L amp and the same on the R amp. The Y cables single end go into my preamp L+R output. The other double ends of the Y cables go into the L- and R+ on the left amp and R- and R+ on the R amp. ?

If your Y connectors go directly into the preamp then yes, I think. The only potentially tricky part is your amp has 2 sets of inputs and a switch to select them so you need to be sure you've got the Y connectors in the "same" L and R input and it is the input selected by the switch. The inner input on one side goes with the outer on the other as I recall, I think that is what you mean by L- and R+ inputs. If nothing else trial and error should get you to the right answer.

Exactly right! I am trying to figure the switches and the wiring pretty much blind. I may have to call Steve and ask him to walk me through it. Good thing the amps are bombproof!

Sorry for being late to the game. I think I may be able to help or at least clarify things for you. Think of the amplifiers as a mirrored pair. What you do to the left amplifier, you are going to do to the right amplifier.
1. In terms of the speaker terminal jumpers… if you are facing the front of the amplifier…. going from the left side of the amp to the right side of the amp… You are jumping the L+ to the R-. This action is performed the exact same way to the other amp.
2. In terms of the dual RCA inputs on the back of the amp… you are taking the Y RCA cable and inputting them into the amp. I chose to use the inner RCA inputs that are closer to the power input. You just need to make sure that your RCA selector switch is selected for that set RCA’s that you are using. Perform the same operation for the other amp.
Just to be clear… it’s the amplifier that receives the “double” leg portion of the Y cable, and the preamp receives the “single” leg portion of the Y cable.
3. You’re now going to take your right speaker cable and connect it to what’s available on your right amplifier. Black to black…red to red. Then you are going to take your left speaker cable and connect it to what’s available on your left amplifier…black to black…red to red.
4. The only thing that’s now left is to connect the amplifiers to your preamplifier. Take the RCA cable from the right amplifier and add it to the red RCA terminal on the output of preamp. Next… Take the RCA cable from the left amplifier and add it to the white RCA terminal on the output of the preamp.
Now that the technical stuff is out of the way…..congrats on your new setup. I love my Zen’s configurated as a pair of mono blocks. The sound is phenomenal, and I love the ability to separately adjust the volume level to account for my room setup based on my ears.
I hope this makes sense, if not please ask for clarification. I did my best without my first cup of coffee.

Good job of explaining something that is difficult to see. And I am still working on my fist cup of coffee this AM.

Hey Paul…..that’s great!! I’m glad I was able to help you out. I remember my first time trying to get it setup 2 years ago, and it was a bit confusing. CAJames helped me out big time. His advice is always solid, so whenever he chimes in, definitely take note of it. He just helped me diagnose a noise issue with my Torii and was spot on from the get go.
Happy Listening!!
Dom
