I noticed no meaningful volume difference between the 211 and 805 or 845 in my non-Decware preamp.

FWIW I tried to power a UFO25 with pairs of all of those DHTs: 211, 805 and 845 and none of them worked. AL said it was because the internal impedance of the tubes was too high. To me it seems like the voltage drop you get using triodes as diodes like in the STR is more a function of the load than a characteristic of the tube. But JMO and all that.

Thanks for this info. All one can do is compile experiences to gauge what the resultant volume levels  will be. I'll be using the RS237 mostly in the  STR rectifying my Lampizator DAC, so was hoping folks that have Lampi DACs night chime in.

So I went back and reread my old posts and kinda refreshed my memory on the DHTs. This is my TL;DR

845 was very linear with excellent soundstage.

805 was more dynamic and emphasized the lower frequencies.

211 was very transparent and linear but somewhat compressed soundstage relative to the others.

But my biggest takeaway is the difference between all of the bargain Chinese tubes and any of the USA/Elrog tubes is much bigger than the difference between the tubes themselves. I'll admit to being prejudiced against current production anyway, and I have no clue where the  fancier Chinese tubes would fall, but that's what I've got.
