Odds of 2 Zen Amps Stopping Working at same time
03/11/24 at 01:38:21

Just like it says. Have a SE84UFO 2.1 Meeters stopped working and no sound.  Have a second amp Torii Jr stopped transmitting sound shortly thereafter.  Attempting troubleshooting but likely fuses?  Any insight on how fuses could fail on two separate amps?
Thanks for your help.

Fuses are a good guess. Do any of the tubes light up? If not, then the mains fuse is most likely blown. If so then at least the mains fuse is OK and the problem may be the rectifier and/or the rectifier fuses.

As for why, a power surge would be a possibility, esp. if both amps are on the same circuit.

Regardless, good luck and let us know what you find.

Thanks. Everything lights up on queue.  So a fuse other than the main is likely correct.  Interesting the UFO and Torii have been fine powered through the same house circuit.  Will check back after more investigation and thank you again.

I would try a new rectifier before I started messing with the rectifier fuses, FWIW.

If the rectifiers are glowing to me this sounds as if one or both of the 200 ma fuses in the rectifier tube board underneath the chassis has failed (on each amp I guess). That's what happens if one or both of these fail, all tubes glow but there is no sound. I would start there.

Thank you.  Replaced the 200ma on the SE84UFO2.1 and the 500ma on the Torii and both are functioning now.  Thank you for the help.
