SE84UFO2.1 meters
09/15/23 at 22:03:04

Hi,

I have the SE84UFO2.1 on order.  The SE84UFO2.1 has the two meters measuring milliamps, but where is this measured and what is its real life use?

Sorry if it's a basic question, but I can't find an answer.

Thanks

Dan

They measure the plate current to the power tubes. If you notice the meter reading changing over time it is (in theory) a sign that the tubes are starting to get old and you should consider replacing them. Or at least listening to replacements to see if they sound better. Also, when you're playing music and approach the clipping point of the amp the meters will start to dance around with the peaks.

As I was new to tubes with my 2.1 I am very happy with the feedback from the meters. The backlighting is very nice as well. Great amp, two years with me now!

I was wondering how the amp was working out for you Randall. We're getting closer now. I think we're at around 130 or so on first page. I was also wondering how the lighting on meters (brightness) was on it as well.  Mellow or bright light? Hopefully, a soft light My eyes can no longer take bright led type lights ....bumped my stupid head a few times..  8-)Anyway..thank you! We're  pretty excited.  ;) ~Mike.

Mike, I love the amp, there will be no other one for me. The back lighting is great, not bright and then you only see them when you walk up to your amp and look down at them. Im not a big tube roller, mostly rectifier so far. I am gathering tubes, back ups first then a few the guys here have recommended. Youll love it! Randall

Thank you for the reply Randall! Exactly what I was hoping for! We will not be rolling tubes at all for some time. Probably will get a few back ups though. Having to watch 'things way more' closely nowadays..  So glad you are loving the amp...just gets us even more excited. Like kids again  8-)   All the very best to you and yours~  Mike...in the (rainy damp today) sticks
