Tesla E88CC / 6922

Has anyone tried this old stock tube? The early mfr yellow label with gold grid, not the shitty later white label.

I’m thinking of a pair for the Torii MK 5.

I’ll answer my own question, as I just received these yesterday

IMO the early to mid 60’s yellow label with gold grid easily rivals the Amperex 7308. Supposedly the inner core of the Tesla was mfd according to the Telefunken CCA. Very linear presentation which to me is really important. Slightly warm mids but very high detail across the frequency range.

Now one my most coveted 6922 type tube along with the Amperex 7308 (USA and Holland in that order).

I'm a big fan of Tesla tubes in general. I have a pair of gold grid yellow label E88CCs that I acquired almost 30 years ago. They are really nice tubes but even better are the white label rhodium pin E88CCs I got for 15 bucks each a few years ago. But in my UFOs neither was close to my USA Amperex 7308s. And in general I liked the PCC88/189 types better. My UFO25s are probably 4 or 5 months out and then I will start all over again and certainly both Tesla E88CCs will get some run.
