Magic eye vacuum tube VU meters on CSP325
08/29/22 at 16:46:13

Just received my new CSP325 preamp. The 6E2 Magic eye vacuum tube VU meters are not visible unless I turn off all the lights etc. I can see an amber light on the rear of each tube when the room lights are on but no other activity on the 6E2...is this to be expected? I have music playing, tried it with and without ZBit.
Thanks for any help.
Malcolm

Malcolm,

Do the meter lights dance up & down the white tab area?

I had the -25 anniversary edition for awhile and indeed it was harder to notice meter activity in the light.

It was a fantastic preamp, I just loved it.

Brad,
Thanks for the insight. The tubes look like the Decware site pictures/videos when I first power up the amp then they fade to pretty much invisible. The amp sounds good. I'm guessing (hoping) that the 6E2 tubes have no impact on the overall sound and I'll just put it in the closet when I want to see it flicker LOL Thanks for sharing your experience.
