A U D I O... P A P E R  TUBES vs. TRANSISTORS

So this morning I am at reading more of the excellent blog posts(?) anyway articles from Steve's past.

I highly recommend spending some time in that corner of the Deckware website. Highly informative and entertaining.

In particular I have been laughing my a** of my chair from these two articles relating an exchange between Steve and "Larry", all the way back to 1997.

Steve, never lose that sense of humour!

Kind regards,

I know hey!
I could not stop laughing.
I know Steve was kindly answering the dude but the image in my mind was a cat playing with a mouse until, the "coup de grace":
"Well, Larry, you certainly haven't left anything out.. except possibly an open mind."

Made my morning coffee that much more enjoyable.
Starting from the bottom of the list I have now climbed to:
"a documentary of a listening room metamorphosis".

It's a good day so far.

Cheers,

a.

Larry reminded me of someone too wedded to the theory.  It's like someone denying that it's raining outside because the forecast was for clear skies.  How many times did Steve have to tell him that it was how it sounded that was important and how many times did Larry suggest A/B tests that he would never do because he knew the result?

Reading Steve's Audio papers was one of my delights when I first came to the internet.

"The Nutcracker" was the funniest, but I got the most enjoyment from the development profiles of some of his products. Maybe the Taboo amplifier, invention of the Lowther GIZMO, The Mini Torii SE design notes, and Design notes for the NFX Loudspeaker more than the other papers.
