It made it to page 12 around the end of April and by the end of October got onto page 10. Now I'm over half way up page 10.

Definitely another good thing about good quality hi-fi, no costly repairs. One thing tube amps seem to have in common with vehicles is they both run better after warming up.

Yes, I've been lucky. I just replaced the original battery in this 2015 car, a battery has never lasted this long for me before, 42,000 miles and nine years. And this most recent big repair wouldn't have happened if I didn't live in the belt buckle of the NE Ohio snow belt and had a garage. No garage. . . transmission pan and exhaust supports and junctures rusted out almost entirely.

It's been a good car and this is the first big money (well for me) that I have had to put into it, so I'm knocking on wood. Now that my Dad is no longer around and I'm not making 110 mile round trips twice or more a week to tend to him and hang with him, it doesn't get many miles on it. And it has a cd player and system that sounds decent enough. I'll probably be keeping it ten more years or so.

Unfortunately, I’m on the other end of the list. I dithered about replacing my ZRock2 until I read Steve’s comment about using the ZRock3 to dial in the new radial open baffle. I figure maybe by the time my new ZRock is done, I might have my speakers put together. Maybe. Takes me forever to do anything anymore.

My ZROCK3 is now "Testing." I'm getting excited!

Have to start thinking about selling my now extra ZROCK2, which is in my headphone system, the first one I bought which has the Jupiter cryo'd cap upgrade and the silver RCA fittings--I'll be moving the ZROCK2 currently used in my main system into that system. Wow. I love the ZROCK tech!

Congratulations! I’ve had my HRv2s for a few months now, and I absolutely love them. They are truly beautiful and the sound, frankly, is more than I’d hoped for. The only problem is that they’re so good, I keep finding myself upgrading everything else in the system to take better advantage of them. I’ve been meaning to do a longer write up, but life and work keep intervening.

You know me, I won't be quiet about it. With the circuit and cap changes and the adjustable gain I imagine it will be distinctly different.

Can't believe my original ZROCK2 from 7 years or so ago will be the odd one out in the musical chairs game and put up for sale!

My ZROCK3 has not shipped yet. I think I may have it in 7 to 10 days or so.

I couldn’t help myself - I had to do it. There was a new ZRock3 on US Audio Mart with all the upgrades that I had ordered for $1500.00 including shipping. I went for it, and it came over the weekend. I only have about 5 hours on it so far, so I haven’t formed any opinion of it yet. I’m going to let it bake in for the next couple of weeks. I’m keeping my name on the list just the same. Kind of decadent, I know, but I do have a couple of systems to plug them into. I will have to sell my ZR2, because having 3 ZRocks might be a little TOO indulgent.

Yes Paul, I made a few comments in the ZROCK forum. . . .

It's a great product, I'm quite happy with it over four days in right now. It's opened up some--I really like the ability to tailor the gain separate from the EQ, that is the biggest difference and allows one to tailor the sound a bit differently.

Hey Lon, have you had to dial the bass back a bit as your ZR3 is breaking in? I’m around 50 hours into the breakin period, and just today I needed to dial the bass back a touch. (My speakers are Omega Alnico High Output monitors). A good problem to have, I think. Anyway, I’m liking what I’m hearing so far. It sounds like you are, too. Nice journey to be on.

Hi Randy,
I've been adjusting all along between the bass and the gain, but my "bass" has been at pretty high levels throughout--I really NEED the bass in my room, thus the ZROCK tech was a breakthrough and a godsend. I have been backing off the "gain" somewhat, which led to me changing the driver tubes in the SEWE300B from the French 7308 to Amperex Holland 7308, which are bassier and backing off the gain allows me to get the bass without an extra layer of warmth that these tubes brought with the ZROCK2. A good thing, this new ability to adjust the gain as well as the EQ.

A new thing is that I decided to do the "five on, five off" thing for the last three days and have turned the ZROCK3 off three evenings. . . it seems to have helped it settle in a bit faster, will do so the next two nights as well.

Hey Lon,

I haven’t done the five on five off thing with my ZR3; I’ve only done that when I’ve been breaking in a new amp. But I could see how it would work the same, tho. It’s actually kind of unusual for me to be breaking in a new component - I normally buy used, since I try so many different things.

Technically yes. In my case I leave it playing or idling all day and then switch it off (mine is plugged into a power regenerator and I can switch it off there) overnight. Steve's recommended process is worded something like have the component on and functioning at least five hours (caps getting to operating temperature for a while) and then at least five hours off (caps cooling down) and repeat five times.
