Would hazard a guess due to supply chain issues because of Covid. Only a guess though.

I've got three if anyone is interested. Two new and one less than 10 hours.

Hope everyone is well.

Hey Crazy Bill, I broke down and picked up a couple Sofia Aqua 274B's instead but thanks for the offer to all. The sonics between the two seem very similar, but I do like the general price of the Valve Arts a lot better.

We have replaced the Valve Art 274B with the Russian 5U3C while supplies last. They are a better built, longer lasting tube.

I discovered this tube several years ago. For the money, I have not used anything better. A very well rounded sound. And on EBay, you can get two for $30 all day long.

Thanks!  I just ordered a pair (best 'quality' seller I could find) for $40 shipped from Ukraine.

If anyone else has some cheapish and good (or just fun) rectifier options, please let me know.  Trying to build up an assortment.  Don't worry, I won't hoard them, just grabbing a few here and there that look interesting.

I've got a bunch of the Rusky tubes. Black plate. 60's vintage. Outstanding tubes.
Obviously mine are much older than what is presently available on Ebay.
I would expect the ones now available to be very good and worth a shot if you can procure them.

I like the 5Z3, the 4 pin version of the 5U4. Just get a 4 to 8 pin adapter and you can get 40's and early 50's RCA, Sylvania, National Union etc., often JAN or "hanging filament" for a fraction of what the 5U4 version would cost.

Another "tube less traveled" is the 83V (note the 83 "no V" is a mercury vapor tube and not anything I would want to mess with). It is the 4 pin version of the 5V4 aka GZ32 and nice examples can be had for a lot less than the 8 pin versions.

Good to know, thanks!

What is the appropriate tube adapter - possible to link me to one you'd trust?

Are there any 5Z3 (with the proper adapter) variants that would NOT work with the UFO?

If you do a search for "5Z3 to 5U4 converter" you'll get a number of choices, almost exclusively from China or Hong Kong, but I have purchased converters for this type (same as used for Type 80) very successfully that have worked reliably.

Thanks!  Didn't know if there was some 'must have' option Google was not readily showing me.

My favorite ebay adapter vendor is xulingmrs. Bought lots of adapters from her and never had any problems.

Any 5Z3 (or 83V) would be compatible.
