Analog Bypass

...can someone explain what “ analog bypass “ means....I have this on my NAD C658 DAC ...this DAC has a Phono input along with Coaxial and Line 1-2
For now I’m running my phono through it until my ZP3 is built...when in phono would you have analog bypass on, then when listening to Qobuz or flac files turn it off for digital ?

I have read a little about this subject, but the more I read the more confusing it becomes

From the Owners Manual:
ANALOG BYPASS
All analog signals remain in the analog domain without analog-to-digital conversions.
On: DSP circuitry is bypassed but full tone control functions remain.

It looks like you can leave it on.
