Could also check out the Decware ZSB. It can even have a remote volume control.

+1 @MrDerrick,
The LDR-based passive preamps from Tortuga Audio are fantastic.  They are about to release the v3 and at a cheaper price due to the new technology they are employing.  Should be out within the next month I believe.
