How Much Vertical Rack Space For an Amp?

I'm going to make a custom rack to put my turntable and all my stereo equipment on.

How much room should I leave above for a Torii and other amps?

Example with the Torii.

Manual states it's 7.75" so lets call it 8"
ZAFP 3"

So we are at 11" will 7" above that be good for ventilation an tube rolling?

18" space between the shelves seem like a lot, I would rather have extra space for ventilation and rolling tubes than too little.

The rack will be open on all sides.

Just an idea for you. I built an audio rack that I'm really liking. I bought a butcher block countertop 72" X 36" and cut it into 4 shelves 36" X 18" and then used 5/8" all-thread rods for the uprights. Used stainless washers and nuts above and below the shelves. It's extremely rigid and totally adjustable. Past the WAF without a problem.

I’m not sure on the final design yet so it will be a consideration. Have photos? The only place i can put a rack is between my speakers. Now I’m concerned that it’s going to mess with the sound stage. It will have to be tall if i want two racks with 18” of vertical space.

The butcher block was 72" X 36" cut into 4 equal pieces. The all-thread rods are 36" and I believe 5/8. I drilled the holes for the rods 1/8" larger to ease the work. The stainless washers and nuts secure everything really solid. The only change I would make is I used a poly finish and I think I would oil finish the shelves if I had overs. The poly works fine though.

I used brass pipe and pipe stanchions. Kinda expensive, but that is what I would do again. really stable, just like with the rods.
