There is going to be an extremely rare living demo of room acoustics at this years fest, as we will have a second listening room going all three days.  If you want to get an instinctive understanding of room acoustics, without any math or conversation, hearing this room would be well worth the trip.  It is only available this year, and only until directly after the fest when the room will be changed.   Imagine a 16 x 24 room with a 12 pitched roof and no ceiling.  A fully floating wood floor and diaphragmatic walls.  The room IS a bass trap at all frequencies.  Now imagine the front wall of the room is gone.  You just see trees and sky.  Literally.  Come and hear it while you still can!

But then, you know how I am about diffusers.  

I don't expect it to sound great.  I know that the room would be objectionable if it were finished.  The open wall will make it listenable.  It will also give those with room acoustics on their minds a real opportunity to hear how a room effects the music it in a different way that might spawn enlightenment of some kind.
