using a Y-adapter on SDPIF?
07/16/18 at 21:16:36

Hi all,
I have what may well be a dumb question, but here goes. I have a Schiit Eitr which converts the USB coming from MacBook Pro to an S/PDIF signal to go to my DACs. One DAC is being used in the main system, and I would like to use my other DAC for my headphone setup. The question I have is: can I plug an RCA Y-adapter into the Sp/PDIF out from the Schiit Eitr and thereby run digital cables to both DACs? I only want to use one DAC at a time, i.e., listen to either speakers or headphones, but would like to avoid having to keep unplugging and replugging cables into the Eitr, as the connectors seem a bit flimsy.
Thanks so much,
Chris

I've used this splitter from Monoprice to send a signal to 2 subs and it worked great:

Don't see why it wouldn't work for your application.

Do you happen to know if they make a version with a single male at the input end and two female outputs?  The SPDIF on the back of my Schiit Eitr is a female RCA, and the digital cables I use have male RCA connectors, so this device is kind of the reverse "gender" from what I need.
Thanks again,
Chris
