selling my AKG 701s on Audiogon for > 60% off!

Hi all,

I have decided my much-loved AKG701 headphones. They are listed on Audiogon, and have only 2 days left. The new retail is $450, and I am asking only $179, at which price I will cover shipping in the continental US.
They are in mint condition, other than some minor fading to the color of the fabric earcups.

I have a question about these HPs that might sound dumb but how loud are they to a bystander? I currently have a pair of Denon closed back HPs and the chief reason I bought them was so I could watch TV when others in my household had gone to bed. I don't do much HP listening of music but I would like a better HP, even though the Denons were rated quite highly when I bought them.

Hi Archie,

Thanks for your interest in the AKGs. That's not a dumb question at all

If listening to music (I've not tried movies), the music is audible to others in the room, but is quite muted; maybe 10-20% of the level you hear while wearing the headphones.

Reply #3 - 03/21/18 at 15:52:31 Thanks Chris, since I'm not into hi-fi listening I went for closed HPs since my primary use is to not disturb others. I guess I've been on the right track. Those AKGs had been on my radar for a long time though.
