twp - We use our Rachael without a pre-amp and it works fine. Our streaming is via a Oppo blu-ray player and or Roku 2. Our vinyl is fed via Decware ZP3 phonostage (amazing piece of gear). Success will be based on the output ability of the two units and if they can drive the amp of your choice (and speakers) to your required volume. Keep us posted on what you decide to do.
