Mark, if you do have 89, 90 or 91db Speakers.....the Listening levels with the SE84CS are at 78db SPL, just outside the near field. That is how I enjoyed the CS's magic for many years.

Sure, limited headroom, when you're burning up some of the 2.5 watts per channel....thru the Polk LS90's x-over's I used (listed below in my homage to my original Listening Room System). But, what magic from this little Amp....it's about quality for me...not bombastic from 95db or greater, 1watt/1 meter Speaker's.

Only reason I'm selling it....I exclusively use my ZMA (read: balls and headroom with all of the magic of my SE84CS in UL and still no neg. feedback) now...and got my "Act together" with a single Cap in my Acoustic Zen Adagio Speakers! I gutted out the complete garbage x-over's that were in these now single capped great Speakers! The sweep, also dictated a higher x-over point on the Tweeter's, from 3 to 4.5k. Puts the Driver's under their 5k threshold. An absolute transformation for these Speaker's to musicality and involvement done by my Decware. Total bliss!

Just, food for thought.

I realize yours is an older model than currently pictured, but does yours have a wood base, black top plate, meters and the volume control on the top?

Black chassis all of it. 2001 vintage baby. She goes on AudiogoN Monday morning 8/3. Grab it while she is sizzlin'.

So, no wood base, no meters and the vol control is in the back as is the RCA inputs and IEC. Speaker jacks, tubes and tranny are the only things on top. Oh, it also has toggle in front on top to change sig. of Amp and direct inputs to by-pass the volume pot in the back. Some sort of shunt to ground.

So, you are getting the SE84CS for $375 essentially, and with awesome tube compliment-read: NOS SV83's Svetlana that the CS was designed with!
IT is in perfect running condition....I just put it through a rigorous run Monday night. I purchased new in 2001. IN 2008 at the end of Decfest Steve gave it a complete checkup for me.

I really like the sound of the 2001-2003 (I think it was) Zen amps. The new CKCS is a completely different animal, and priced accordingly.

Runs any EL84 ~and the Svetlana NOS SV83 is the real treat. I might even throw in a free pair of the 83's, if purchased before I put on Audiogon. SE84CS to Audiogon (first/then EBay if need be) & SV83's are going on EBay.
