PS Audio released a video yesterday about absolute polarity:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=aRmLnlKRyHI&pp=ugUEEgJlbg%3D%3DCoincidentally, my system has been off for a couple weeks. I’ve been listening but it’s been dull. Swapped some tubes, moved the speakers, subs on/subs off. Just boring. Then I happened to notice that my speaker wires were flipped. A couple weeks ago I had some crossovers in for a few days to listen to the effect. I swapped the black/reds on the speaker cables to adjust for the crossover. After a few days the crossover came out but I never switched the cables back. So both speakers were theoretically in phase, or rather, out of phase together.
I switched them back and game on- the magic was back. Subs on, tight, crisp, punchy. Subs off, smooth, mellow, live jazz in my room. That’s what I get for messing with a good thing.
To Paul’s video topic, and Lon’s point above, I can definitely hear a difference.
