E80CC safe?
07/09/10 at 20:13:49

I have been reading about more linear replacements for the 12AU7. I have some 5963 and 5814 here but want to try the E80CC if it safe.

It is not a drop-in replacement and it may or not work given that it has a higher filament draw.

Here's the data sheet.

Apparently the 5963 is a direct rep. ...it's the 5814 which was designed at the request of RCA for a more linear 12AU7. 5814 should be fine, as opposed to the questionable E80CC.

Steve emailed that the E80CC shouldn't be a problem.

Someone posted on AA about it having at least 130v on the plate for maximum performance/fidelity.
