I have been reading the plans for the last day and am getting my head around them.

I'm in Australia and we work in metric. MDF sheets are available in 18mm thickness, but 3/4 inch is effectively 19mm. I either need to redraw the plans or try and glue a 16mm sheet to a 3mm sheet.

Also I am considering routing a dado in the side panels for pieces 1 to 8 so they will fit exactly. I'll cut pieces 1-8 an extra 1/8 inch or so to compensate.

Simon,

I don't think adding the two thicknesses together to make 19mm would be necessary. Rather than redrawing the plans, make the two side panels to Steve's dimensions then do the math for what you need to go between the sides to come up with the outside width of the main cabinet. Basically you will have to add 2mm to ever piece internally. The same goes for the depth.

At least that is what I would do,

My concern is, the precise positioning around the 'capacitor cavity' and internal horn. With a thinner piece of wood I want to be confident of aligning the pieces and not lose the sonic result. Is there some wiggle room here? Simon

Young_SC Seasoned Member I love Decware 1G - SP1! Posts: 111	Re: ZOB Reply #5 - 01/16/10 at 08:33:06 I just found a source for 19mm chip board, so I should be OK. I've heard that this can sound OK due to the larger pieces of real wood compared to MDF. Probably a bit trickier to work though.
