Near perfect Synergy in new CSP2 and Taboo combo

I have owned both units for several months now and they are fully burned in.

Most recently in the CSP2 I was using a Sylvania black plate 5U4 rectifier, with 3 6N1P's. In the taboo I had a Bendix 6101 rectifier, 2 Sylvania black plate 6BQ5's with an old Sylvania black plate 12AU7 out front.

I decided to change the inputs and rectifiers, and what a difference. I am using RCA 5AS4 (5U4 equivalent) rectifiers in both. In the CSP2 I put a Mullard PCC88 (7DJ8) up front. In the Taboo, I put a Mullard CV4024 (12AT7), a medium gain tube for this unit.

The music is much more detailed and involving. The grain I heard in some recordings has vanished. I am content with the tube complement I have in this equipment for now.

I planned to try the Taboo with Mazda 5Y3GB, Everything else Mullard. In the CSP2 I have laid out 5U4G SED big bottle, Amperex Bugle Boy 6DJ8 and some Russian stuff to roll in. Any other recommendations?

Dick Posts: 28804 Munson Township, OH	Re: Near perfect Synergy in new CSP2 and Taboo combo Reply #3 - 01/28/09 at 22:57:56 Consider 6N2Ps when you get your Radials, which I think will be higher efficiency than your current speakers (?) and the reduction in output using 6N2Ps will be less obvious. I really like 6N2Ps especially in the CSP2.
