Made a scaled down Wicked One, for use as a home theater sub.  Used Dayton 6 1/2 inch woofers and sub amp from Parts express.  Very satisfied with the performance.  

It's basically a 24 by 18 inch, by 9 1/2 inch (outside dimension) Wicked One box.    Throat internal dimension is scaled by a factor of 24/36.  I.e., 2 inch - 0.75 inch thck wall = 1.25 inch, the internal dimension, is then reduced by 24/36, gives about 0.83 inch.  So, 0.83 + 0.75 = 1.58 inch is the scaled down "2 inch throat dimension" on the original plan.  Internal depth is scaled by the same factor, 24/36 * 12 inch = 8 inch.

The sub is firing downward, with about 2" gap from the carpet, supported on four spikes.   I'm amazed at the low frequencies I hear from my receivers LFE output, through these small woofers.  Doesnt have a whole lot of power handling, but still plenty enough for my small home theater room.

Chamber volumes are designed as a 4th order bandpass, with Fl set at 49 Hz.  This allowed a pretty close match for the vented chamber volume of my scaled down box, but required that I place an internal baffle in the sealed chamber to reduce to match my design volume.

Spreadsheets, AutoCad, and my Sears $120 table saw made this design go fairly smoothly.   Finshed it in about 3 nights. 

I've been lurking around here for some time, reading up on other's good and bad experiences making scaled down Wicked Ones and WO32s.  Couldn't afford the space for a full size, so i went with what I could.

I didnt really have any other choice but to place the box at that location, up against the wall, and to fire it downward made even more sense, since lying it with the horn firing forward took up too much space by the entry way and would have made for a tripping hazard - i.e. wife approval factor would be low.  I feel the bass is somewhat reinforced also by firing the horn downward to the carpet.  Similar to the effect of some other guys firing their WO horn into the back of their cars.  

The vinyl laminate dressed up the cabinet nicely.  All the careful measuring and fabrication of the cabinet pieces really pays off at the end of the day, the cabinet just blends into the room.  I should have shown a pic with the whole HT setup to show how it 'fits' in.  Maybe Ill add one later.
