Question for CSP2 and Taboo owners

I'm curious as to who uses the CSP2 to control volume completely, who doesn't, and why?

I've tried both. I liked the sound a lot with the Taboo at about 1 or 2 o'clock, the CSP2 at about 3 o'clock, with the CSP2 gain pots about 4 or 5 o'clock. But today I decided to bypass the Taboo volume, reduce the CSP2 gain to about 11 o'clock, and use the CSP2 for volume. On cd's, with my Denon 3910, I can get it to about 4 or 5 o'clock for a pretty healthy volume, with my vinyl setup , I go a bit higher.

Anyway, that's my deal. What's your's?

Have you tried the Taboo with the CSP2 the recommended way? By using the direct input RCA jacks (the inner ones) and turning the volume on the Taboo all the way up.. My understanding is when using the Taboo with the CSP2, you want to totally bypass the volume control on the Taboo the way I described, I mean you are using a pre now afterall Undecided

It should sound better? Dave

If using the variable
inputs, the volume control located at the front
of the amplifier will control the output level of
both channels at the same time. If you use the
direct inputs, a preamp is required to control
the volume AND the volume control on the amp
that has become a variable shunt to ground
when the direct inputs are used, must be turned <--------- MUST
all the way up.

Also this statement in the Taboo manual is wrong, there is no input switch. Rather you switch it yourself by connecting your RCA jacks to the outer (variable) or inner (direct). The only switch on the Anniversary Taboo is one for Power and one for the Lucid mode.. I should know, I'm intimate with my Taboo on a daily basis :-* Dave

The input switch, one for each channel,
changes between direct and variable inputs.
It always points to the active jack. For example
on the left side of the amp, moving
the input switch to the right would select the
variable input for that channel. Variable input
means the signal goes through the volume
control located at the front of the

Ah, sorry for the misunderstanding, and I should have been clearer. I'm using the 1st edition Taboo, not the anniversary. Mine only has one set of inputs. I didn't even know that the Anniversary did until you hipped me to it.
I also didn't know that there was a different forum for my Taboo, so I'll put my question over there.

I wonder what Steve would give me in trade in towards an Anniversary?
