hi is there any dampingmaterial needed in HW12 box?

I tried automotive carpet padding (pretty dense stuff) in the upper and lower chambers of a 15"er, didn't seem to make an audible difference. May have with some type of measuring devise??
I lined the inner surface of the chambers and inner wall of the caps. I didn't "pack it in".
