WO from cheap components?

Hi,

I've got a cheap 10" powered subwoofer - reflex box, 100 watt amp built in, made in China.

It actually works as well as anything I've heard for 3 times its price. I was wondering if the drivers and amp could be used in a WO enclosure. The sub I have is so cheap I could buy a second one, remove the components from both and mount in a WO enclosure. Unfortunately, I have no idea of the TS parameters, the tuning frequency or anything other than the box size (around 1.4 cubic feet internally.)

Is it likely that the components could be used to good effect?

cheers
Gary

Considering the number of times I have seen the WO design described as "forgiving", I would have to say go for it. If you plan ahead, you can make the baffles removable in case you aren't happy with the results. Then you just put in a new baffle for one of the endless list of drivers that worked for other people or sell it.
