room size?
01/01/06 at 06:39:40

Hey, I have enough space for either the SO imperial horn or the normal one. But my room is only 14 by 16 ft big. Would it still function right? Can i use higher xmax drivers like around 15-25 xmax in the horns without any problems? I only want this to do bass. How would the normal imperial horn do with two 15" atlas's in it? I can change the qts on the driver so its .37 or .45 or .57. If i cant use high xmax subwoofer in this enclosure would i be able to use the peavey low rider subwoofer or the selenium subwoofer. both the Pro audio drivers come in 18's if i can fit those in there.

peavery: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=294-303
selenium subwoofer: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=264-386&ctab=2#Ta...

thanks

One normal or sub version of the Imperial would be more than enough bass for a room that size.Currently I use a standard imperial (as a sub)with two 15" eminence with an x-max of 4mm in a room thats 20 x 30 x 16 high with a 150 watt sub amp (which never gets turned up past half on the volume)The bass from this is amazing.I have friends who have been into audio most of their lives who are amazed by the bass this speaker puts out.
I had a brief talk with Steve a while ago and he prefers speakers with minimal x-max in horn designs.I,ve built a few different horns and was treated to excellent bass reponse with an x-max of no more than 1mm.

Would the peavey subwoofer cause a problem because the xmax is 9.6mm? That peavey would be perfect for the behringer EP1500 rack amp. Does the SO horn require a driver with a certain qts or vas or fs or any other t/s parameter?

thanks for all the help
