radial rl 1.5s with zen cs
11/05/05 at 01:53:23

I really love my zen cs. I have it mated with parker 95s which I really like too. Great mids, highs and great punchy bass. Perfect combo. I just think I am am missing some bottom end. I have tried several subs but can't seem to get the right sound. The extra bass ruins the beautiful combo. Mud is Mud. iI am considering the  radial 1.5s, I think they go down to 37 hz. I am curious if other people drive them with a single zen or if it will run out of power. I have a 12 by 18 room and listen at pretty reasonable levels to acoustic and jazz. Any comments would be appreciated

cyclops,

   Welcome to the forum......

If you like it loud even once and a while, I'm not sure the 1.5's would be the right choice. I could listen to the 1.5's on a single Zen all day, as long as I'm not in the mood for loud. The Parkers will for sure  get loud with a single Zen, no doubt about it.

If you want more bass, maybe a little more weight the MG944's might be a better choice. Dave at Parker also offers the 95's with a built in sub in the lower 1/2 of  the 95's you have now. I can't remember the name right now, but you could check out his website.

I would think, your best bet would be to give Steve a call, he's real good at matching a speaker with ones personal tastes and what it is your trying to achive.

Whatever the outcome, post it on the  forums, we'ed be glad to hear from you again.

   BobZ.

Hi Cyclops

The 95's will mate up perfectly with the new subs from Parker Audio!!  The new subs are designed to match pefectly with the Parker line of speakers.  The subs utilize an Aluminum cone driver that is quick and detailed.  These units mate seamlessly with the Parker speakers.  They were very well received at this past Decfest!!

If you have any questions please drop me a line.

Many thanks

Dave

Also,

Preliminary info can be found on Parker Audio's new product page.  The new subs are called the Trogs!!

P.S.  Stone time is drawing near for the Crusaders to be on their way!!!!!!

BobZ and any one else,

Have you had the opportunity to listen to the 1.5’s with a single Zen C and CSP? If so, perhaps you can comment on the loudness issue for use in a 21 x 12 x 8 room.

Thanks, Miles

I spent several years with RL1s and RL2s and a Select amp.

If you really want LOUD I think you'll not be happy with the 1.5s and a Select.  I mean really LOUD.  Otherwise, a great great combination.  (Why did I switch to EL34 Monoblocks again? Wink)
