Title: ZF15M or Caintuck baffle for Lii 15?
Post by metropolis7 on 08/24/21 at 17:02:45

Looking for a breakdown of the sonic differences between Steve's ZF15M baffle and Caintuck's smaller design. My inkling is that the big difference is bass output, with Decware baffle allowing the driver to go deeper?

Does the Caintuck give the majority of the performance of the ZF15M and do justice to the Lii 15?

My room is 30L x 12w x 9 H. Getting more body and more bass are definitely important to me.

I haven't auditioned the ZF15M, so will defer to others on that. I have 3 pairs of Randy's Lii 15 OBs.  Although they roll off at 50 Hz, in practice, I've never felt I was compromising much with the pairs in my office or our living room, even though the latter is a large space.  For the pair in my listening room, I added one of Randy's Lii W15 OBs, powered by an inexpensive plate amp to provide deeper bass.  I've been very very happy with this set up, even though it replaced a pair of full range Von Schweikerts that cost several times more.

I will be doing the build myself, and I am no expect woodworker, just OK. Easier is better and space is a consideration.
