I did have a non-audiophile ask me to turn down my Bose travel speaker though. It wasn’t that loud. I blaming it on thin walls. |

We have some new over the top speakers this year, a new preamp, new air-conditioning, and the wood shop, now completed, has it's own stereo and WIFI. Get a first listen to some insanely rich 100 dB single-driver crossover-less open-baffle speakers on the 25th Anniversary Zen Triode amp and you won't be the same when you leave. Curtesy of UltraAnalgue Recordings, we have some new master tapes! These are the most incredible master tapes you'll ever hear so I am very much looking forward to this years DECFEST! Every year after the fest is over I wonder how in the hell are we ever going top that... and this year we will have no problem achieving that goal. We will have both TIDAL and the new for this year, the better sounding QOBUZ with everything streamed in true 16/44, 24/48, 24/96 and 24/192. I'm not going to lie, this has taken things to a new level for streaming which is what dominates the event. I play records and or tapes on request at any time during the three days, but the rest of the time is dominated by streaming or CD's. I can hardly wait! Steve |

The Big Betsys with the F15 drivers, the Crystal 10 Baffles and the Caintuck Audio F15 Baffles and their Alnico Betsy Baffles! Also the Turning Point Audio's model HR-1's with the latest full-range crossover-less updates make this the new reference Radial speaker design capable of being driven by lower power triodes. It's amazingly good. These sell for $2500 and will likely raise the bar pretty damn high at 100dB and down to 30Hz... btw, if we made these cabinets here in the states, the price would be closer to $6500 so this shows a real dedication by the manufacture who is small businesses to further the enjoyment of audio for the sincere but broke audiophile, just like Decware. Post by Steve Deckert on 09/11/19 at 04:40:39 Dan, It was a lot of fun and somewhat expensive to make, and who knows what might happen this year... you know Extraterrestrials are really coming out of the closet these days, and it stands to reason the ones who live on type M planets with similar atmosphere would appreciate good sound quality. If you read my paper on "what is sound" you will see our musical scale comes from astronomy which means Extraterrestrials would have completely different mathematics determining the chords scales and keys. This is why they don't abduct pianos and why they do abduct Decware Zen Triode amplifiers. [smiley=10.gif] Steve |

Post by Steve Deckert on 09/16/19 at 03:05:42 I have been using a solid state EICO receiver to listen to music out in my wood shop all summer and most of the time it has sounded bad enough to make me wonder what was wrong with the source and or speakers. I realized this just isn't going to fly during DECFEST, so I dug up something special to replace it with. I found the very first Zen Triode Amplifier. The original. #000 and have put it into service as a replacement for the EICO. It is rather special to listen to it again after all these years and I'm sure everyone will enjoy hearing it while they're here! 18 days and counting. Steve |

Post by Steve Deckert on 09/20/19 at 04:00:30 The Lii Audio Flagship loudspeakers are making a damn good first impression considering they've been here less than 8 hours. These are extreme performance loudspeakers due to the amazing 100dB efficiency and flat response down to 30Hz. All from a single driver and no crossover... just reflect on how rare this actually is for a minute. Anyone with a Zen Triode 2 watt amplifier an a pair of these affordable speakers would be the absolute king of the block because the typical hi power multi-driver hi-fi world really has nothing on it, and in fact look foolish when the reality sets in that it doesn't sound or perform nearly as well. And you did it with 2 watts! I'll probably ramble about these in the Big Betsy thread or the Decware developments thread. Steve |

Post by Steve Deckert on 09/21/19 at 04:07:07 I'm putting the listening room together for the fest, and we will be working both ends of the room with different systems. With regard to music formats this year if you want to hear your own music the best method will be to burn or bring your own CD's and bring them with you. This will greatly simplify matters and allow you to move between both ends of the room with the same source material and no one will have to figure out how to read memory sticks and SD cards or wonder if they have the right format or if the source is properly selected, or why the hell isn't there any sound.... and so on.
