Hello everyone!

This years annual DECFEST (aka Decware ZEN FEST) will be held the first weekend in October which puts it on the 7th, 8th, and 9th.

We will broadcast it live like we have been doing the past several years with great results. The information/broadcast page is located here:

Hi everyone, as you know the DECFEST aka DECWARE ZEN FEST is a free event. We supply the food and drinks. During the event we don't try to sell you product, in fact the office is closed during that 3 days so no business will take place until we re-open. The only exception will be T-Shirts and Hats which will be sold for the following prices:

Decware T-Shirts for fest attendees are $10 for S ~ XL and $20 for 2XL~4XL. Embroidered Decware Hats will be $20.

Only 2 weeks away! I am having fun preparing for everyone this year! The ROOM has been a large part of my focus this year and it has made some rather dramatic improvements, both in imaging and bass quality with additional tuning and treatments. 100% natural with no DSP. Optimized at both ends.

The corner horns are at peace with the universe and can reproduce it down to 20Hz without effort on our 2 watt Zen Triode Amplifiers which is fun to hear... but then when you hear what the same 2 watts can do on a pair of 15 inch drivers in the Imperial SO subs you'll think what you're hearing is impossible. Bring on the Organ music and electronic synth, the speakers go lower than you can hear but damn near move the earth your standing on while doing it. Trust me it's memorable.

So on this theme to debut the new Zen Triode Monoblocks (SE84UFO3) I have set up the Zen Open Baffle's with the FRX drivers in parallel with a passive subwoofer using one 15 inch woofer in our 28 cubic foot folded horn. Same for the other channel. This way you can experience what is possible with a couple watts on multiple levels... bass scale, depth and texture, underpinning presence in the midrange and top end that make everything sound real. It's total hardcore audio porn and it's all being driven by our ZCD240 directly feeding the amplifiers with a single pair of interconnects. Simple, simple, simple.

So this year's theme is pretty much getting back to basics and focusing on what started Decware and how good it has become in 20 years. I know everyone will be shocked at the resolution and performance at both extremes of the UFO Zen's.

Speaking of UFO Zen's, don't be shocked if you see some UFO's in the night sky during the fest. Just say'in.

I'll post some pics of the room as I start getting it together this weekend.

Who's going to be there and when?
I am going to use my last half of a personal day to be there Friday afternoon. I'll probably ride up on my motorcycle if the temp is above 35. But a thought did cross my mind about bringing my OB's up and let everyone tell me if they sound ok or not. I'd have to drive my Jeep then. We shall see.

This years room:

This is the East end of the room that has the built-in corner horns. This year they have a pair of Omega drivers installed getting full range response from 20Hz to 20kHz. Nice powerful presentation on 2 watts per channel. In the center of the doorway is the vinyl and tape rigs.

The microphones for the live feed are in this shot centered between the speakers and nine feet above the floor hanging from the ceiling.

The West end of the listening room:

This year we'll be demo'ing the new SE84UFO3 monoblocks (3 watts) on our Zen Open Baffles featuring the FRX2 drivers. To demonstrate the scale and depth of bass possible from a Zen Triode UFO amplifier, we are backing these speakers up with the Imperial SO 28 cubic foot folded horns, one per side creating the front corners of the room. Each cabinet has a 15 inch woofer with a 90Hz passive crossover wired in parallel with the FRX driver. For some reason people assume that small amps should have small speakers, like for some reason they can't drive large speakers! This demo is so impressive in what it can do with 3 watts, that we hope it will be a reminder of what is possible with a DECWARE SET amplifier.

The white speakers set off to the side are not being used, and if they were, would be placed just inside the Zen Open Baffles.

The feed will go live on Friday Oct 7th around noon. It will run until Sunday around noon. We are on Central Standard Time, USA.

The feed will have a locked 320kps 48khz stereo audio feed at all times with a 1000kps video feed at 5 frames per second. Bandwidth issues will drop video frames but have no effect on audio quality. If the feed appears to stop, it will restart automatically usually in less than 1 minute. If not, you can just reload the page to spare yourself the wait : )
