Title: NOS RCA 5v4g Rectifiers Post by Neil Jackson on 02/10/24 at 01:02:30 Hi, I recently bought some NOS RCA 5v4g rectifiers for my Torii MK II. Can anyone make a comparison statement about these tubes versus the 5u4g or the 5u4gb? I am currently running the 5u4g. Thanks in advance for any help. Neil Jackson |

I don't have a Torii, but my experience with RCA 5V4Gs in UFO amps is they are warmer than average and give a nice "tubey" sound. Maybe just a little less detailed and rolled off at the frequency extremes. They are nice tubes, esp. for the price. Please post your impressions. |

Title: Re: NOS RCA 5v4g Rectifiers Post by Lon on 02/10/24 at 22:08:37 I'm pretty much where James is. I like RCA best and I used to LOVE RCA 5V4G in my earlier (pre-UFO) Zen amps and CSP# preamps. But as time passed and amps and preamps had UFO transformers and I opted for Anniversary mods. . . I found myself drawn time after time to the Sophia Electric 274B Aqua rectifiers which had to my ears a very similar nature to the RCAs but with more speed and while full, a tighter signature. |
