Title: Re: Zp3 tube rolling Post by Sean on 01/07/24 at 19:59:50 Lon posted some good links. Just last night I replaced a Mullard GZ32 with a Cryotone 5ar4. I had the 5ar4 in the CSP2+ and just wanted to experiment, so I swapped them and put the GZ32 in the CSP. Crazy how the same two tubes in the setup can change the sound. Just that swap gave me a more liquid, smooth and natural sound. Currently in my ZP3 I'm using the Cryotone 5ar4, Sovtek 12AX7LPS red tip in the input, Gold Lion ECC83 gold pin, RCA 5814a and GE OD3. The ZP3 really responds to different tubes in every position, not always for the good. I've tried 5751's in the first two slots and found they kill dynamics. Others really like them. Lots of other factors weigh in like room, speakers, etc. I would say the most dramatic changes are the VR tube and rectifier. |
