Title: Zkit 100 ohm resistor on fire
Post by Chilaquil on 06/03/23 at 22:34:30

Hi,

I connected the amp to electricity and both 100 ohm caught on fire before this it just got the trans warm. wondering if I did something silly. Any ideas?

U sure it was supposed to be a 100ohms resistor? Check value on schematic/board. Maybe a 1kohm?

It is on the schematic as 100 ohms.

Hard to say. Maybe post a little more info and some photos?
Cheers.

Photo included. Soldered on both sides. Top left has the burnt resistors.

Yep, looks smoked all right. Lol. Been there, that’s frustrating.
It would help to know more- photos of both sides, what the whole set-up looks like, etc. Did you use the edcor transformers?  Did this happen the first time you plugged it in or what were you doing when this happened?
The 20uf and 33uf cap connections look a little charred too. The 150 ohm 5w resistor looks weird to me, but I’m no resistor expert. Double check the values on that. Check the values on all the components one more time for that matter. And double check your wiring from the power cable to the transformer to the board.

Double Check transformer wiring. The two 100 ohms go to the 6.3 v winding for a center tap. Maybe you swapped these.
