Title: Decware Group Picture
Post by Steve Deckert on 05/20/23 at 00:38:42

Left to right is:

Joshua, Paul, Chris, Josh, Sarah, Phil, Steve, Ben, DeVon, Tom, Veronica, Jim, Jake and the short one in the front is Hazel.

This is the group of people who work under the same roof here at Decware.  We also have our woodworkers Bob and Greg, Transformer maker Daryl, Chassis maker Jim and retired hydrodipped amp builder Dennis not pictured because they work off site.

These are the people who build your amplifiers.  This is Decware : )

Nice to see everyone we owe so much to. And Hazel was my paternal grandmother's name--I've always loved that name.

As a guy who couldn't do without his ZBit, ZStage, and ZRock, it's great to be able to see all who make it happen. Congrats on building a great company/family, Steve.

It is very nice to see all your smiling faces, and put some reality into the folks behind all the hard work and dedication. It definitely starts with Steve, but couldn't happen without everyone in the group.

Thank you!

When you started making amps a quarter century ago did you ever imagine it would become this?

What a journey for you and your family. Congrat's for your success. I firmly believe that it is in no small part due to your willingness to share so much with us audiophools. It is obvious that you have a deep passion for what you do; it's not just a way for you to make a living, but a way of living.

Bless you all with continued success and happiness.

Thank you for the kind words!

When this all started, my goal was to build and sell 25 amps. That was the biggest goal I could imagine.  Back then it was the model SE84. It sold for $499.00 and it cost me $440 to make.  Each one was hand drilled from a blank Hammond chassis.  I built the first dozen all at the same time. Made a bunch of mistakes on the first one that were faithfully copied on the remaining 11 units. After that I never built more than one at a time.

I have the original serial #001 hanging on my wall just to keep a perspective.

Steve

Yes, it is heartwarming to see this group picture of all the dedicated individuals who give us such fine products. It underscores that life is all about people and relationships and enjoying the work that one does.

So I would venture a guess that the little gray amp on the wall is the most valuable component on the property?

That little gray seed on the wall was a gift from the Audio Gods that I planted and watered until it grew into a forest that shades sincere but broke audiophiles around the entire planet : )   Probably why they still talk to me ; )

Steve -

This is pretty fantastic. You said you started with the goal of 25 amps,  any estimate as to how many amps Decware has built as of now?

I actually have no idea. There have been many thousands built so far.
