Title: intermittent "snapping" sound from torii Mk3
Post by astro-chris on 03/08/23 at 14:59:21

Dear all,
During the last week, my Torii Mk3 has starting making a single, very brief  sound like someone snapping their fingers (almost like a static discharge) about 5-10 seconds after I power it on, but this sound only occurs like once out of each 4-5 times on power-up. The amp plays perfectly and sounds amazing, but I am concerned something is amiss, as it never did this before. Can anyone think of anything that might be causing this and what I can do to remedy it?
Thanks so much,
Chris

My first guess is one of the tubes, starting with the rectifier.

Thanks CAJames,
Damn, I have a spare pair, but the rectifiers are nos Brimars :-(
I'll tr swapping them out and see if that resolves things.
Thanks again,
Chris

Rectifiers are just a first guess, could be any of the tubes.
