Title: Today was special...
Post by Coyote on 03/08/23 at 02:50:48

Greetings everyone,

Today I received a package.
A package I have been hoping for, for nearly 20 months.
And wanting for nearly 25 years.

My UFO is... Beautiful.
I could not be more pleased.
With everything.

The packaging is over and above.
Everything is packed individually, then wrapped individually, then wrapped together, then that is boxed and the box is itself bubbled wrapped and that is put in another box.

But who cares about boxes right?

The unit is beautiful in itself, not a scratch on the Phillip screw heads.
The different ones all 'torqued' at similar angles.
The cherry wood is beautiful, the craftmanship in putting the angles together is shipwright quality. The rubbed finish is smooth and not wavy at all.
The plateau fits within millimeters of the wood frame.
The wrinkled paint is tight and flat all around.
All the tube sockets are proud of the plateau at similar height.
I could go on and on, and I haven't ever powered-it up yet!

Playing with the toggle switches and the potentiometer and even the on-off rocker switch, one can hear and "feel" the components quality.

I got the Decware branded tube, they are simply beautiful. The logo is crisp and clean. The glass shows no thickness variations or flaws. The anode and cathode mesh are, perfect?

I might change the AC power cord for a Cloth Cotton Covered Cord, but that will simply be a personal esthetic preference. 2M long, 1.3mm wire is fine but since I will need a longer wire to reach the wall outlet (...even if I do intend to add a UPS to the system) and do not want to add a cord extension, I think I will go with a 3M 1.6mm cable.

So far, I could not be more pleased.
This could easily be addictive...

To all of you waiting out there: It is way worth it.

Cheers,

a.

List your gear in your signature and put a box of ACME dynamite next to your UFO you’ll really be a Wile E. Coyote  [smiley=tunes57.gif] [smiley=tunes57.gif] [smiley=tunes57.gif]

That is great!!! I’ve a major wait myself for my Decware amp, but the thought of receiving in a few days a long anticipated package from another “competitor “ has me feeling the need to crack a smile.

Build quality is nice, though sound quality is far more important.

With Decware, there’s no suffering on either.

Congratulations on your new babe.

Hey Coyote,

Congrats on receiving your amp. Now the "honeymoon" phase starts, which is much better than the waiting phase. Not only that, but it keeps getting better with time, just like all good relationships.  Enjoy.

It's wild how much of a rush there is getting a new piece of gear that you know will be special.

That will fade... however, the sweet sweet music will last a lifetime.

Look at what was in one of the boxes that the FedEx girl just delivered.

Mr. Coyote, do you have a favorite 4 valve v8 engine? Asking for a friend.
Sir, if you don’t have an answer for that stupid question, Ima geek.
I seem to be experiencing a tube rush.

Congrats to both of you. Hopefully lots of listening scheduled.

I have a favorite coyote in my truck, my favorite because it’s the second one in the truck, first one wasn’t so good!

I have a neighbor down the road that has one of those red hot rods(his is grey) with straight pipes. He is a bit mad at the world and seems too enjoy thundering up the street 6am on work days. Me thinks it is part of a feud between his neighbor across the street.
