Title: Back to the Factory
Post by Rivieraranch on 02/11/23 at 14:36:32

After using my Anniversary modified Mini Torii for nearly 4 years it is time to send it back for upgraded caps and a potentiometer repair. Mine is a December 2012 build, the end of Version I; the last of the white tops. By this time the standard Mini had variable feedback controls and variable output. The first units had a switch to turn off the 0C2 input voltage regular but that was scrapped because the amp sounded so good with the 0C2s on.

Mine was updated with UFO transformers and had anniversary modifications. With new copper foil caps it will be the same under the hood as a current version.  It is boxed and ready to ship. It felt strange when I woke up this morning not turning it on.

I recently had the pleasure of knowing the owner of Mini Torii #4. Also I guided another new forum member here on the purchase of a Mini. I will miss mine while it is gone. Hopefully it will return in around 2 weeks.

What are those power tubes?  are they both the same type?

Thanks

What an 👁️ you have Grinnell!

I snapped this image while doing an A/B comparison of the 807 on the left and the 5933 on the right.

I found that the 5933 did not have the bass that the 807 brought. I don’t know if that was because they were not really burned in.

My unit is completed; waiting to be shipped.

The unit is to return tomorrow. I will touch up the wood base and put it back in service.

Now connected to the ‘Lil Audio F15s in their new 1.75” thick baffles. The amp sounds wonderful with the new capacitors. And the speakers have less glare than when they were front mounted in a thinner baffle.

Congrats! Kinda bummed I don’t see Sarah’s reflection in the tubes though…

Soon those 807’s will see the reflection of a beautiful young black girl.

Beautiful. Are those adapters available in the USA? I like them and have 807's.

Hi Charlie, I obtained these fine US-made 807-6L6 adapters from an eBay seller nwsell-it-here. It looks like this pair was a one off. They have not had any more. I even asked them on somebody else’s behalf. Maybe Angela instruments or one of the other electronics places has some this good. I really like them. The caps sit tight on top of the anode nipple of the tube. Whereas the Chinese made ones have an aluminum foil thin contact inside  the cap which does not hold the nipple tight
