Title: Portable amps for the Tiny Radials Post by deucekazoo on 02/06/23 at 03:41:01 So I gave it a shot to make the SE84C portable. Wish they were a little smaller but I think they will work. They are 3.5" wide, 3" tall and 10" deep. The output transformer was a little bigger than I though it would be and it made it challenging to make everything fit. I started with mono boards that Steve sells. These are nice boards that make it easier to build these amps. I am running these on the Tiny Radials I made a few months back. They actually have plenty of power to run them. They really opened up when I replaced the 100K pots with stepped 30K volume controls I had laying around from a previous project. I was getting a weird distortion out of the 100K pots turned half way up. It was fun making these. I had a chance to use the CNC on aluminum. This being the first time on metal, always used it on wood. |

Title: Re: Portable amps for the Tiny Radials Post by galtjunk on 06/02/23 at 16:23:41 Nice work. I also have a pair of Tiny Radials powered by a self built Zen Triode and a ZSP1. These work great in my office. Any advice for a fellow cnc'er about to embark on his first aluminum chassis project? I am building an amp with 4 KT150's, 2 6SN7 with a timer tube and a socketed relay. I need to make about 100 holes ranging from .15 up to 1 1/4" for the tube sockets. Should I use a 1/16 or 1/8 endmill for the holes that are 1/4 and smaller and do a second run with a 1/4 endmill for the larger transformer and tube socket holes? |
