Title: It's a public service announcement with its own...
Post by Burgermeester on 09/08/22 at 09:44:43

I think this is "kind of" important because I does this for a living.

It's = it is

Its = what belongs to "it" (NOT it's)

IT'S time to stop Decware from using ITS power to oppress us.

I saw an ape scratching ITS ___. IT'S disgusting.

Dis be how we writes.

Can we add Oxford commas to the list too, lol?

I guess that in an online forum setting, there is a greater sense of relaxation, both from the person writing, as well as from the person reading— a mutually understood silent pact if you will, not to be too nit picky about grammar.

You saw how I used a big word there. Shows how smart I am.
;)

Honestly, pedantic behavior is one of my flaws and I fight it constantly while on the 'net.
I am also guilty of many typos and even more during the period when I was typing "one handed" while my broken arm was bound. Balancing the two evils is a task.
My apologies go out to all other pedantic folk who tried to read something I attempted to convey which was laced with errors in usage of common expression.

I've slung my smack, but, in my opinion, this particular forum is one of the easiest to read and understand due to the higher level of "something" and I don't think it's being smart or not, but rather maybe a higher level of caring what one intends to contribute.

I was never taught to add that Oxford comma; I was taught NOT to in school, and if you do, there has to be a reason for doing so.

Receiving grammar instruction on a message board is an indignity with which I shall not put up.

See? You've already messed it up.

Winston Churchill was very careful with his words. There were forces which were already trying to kill him.
Speaking was dangerous!

I'll fix things for you, lest you attract more eyes askance.

"... indignity, up with which I will not put."

Yes, I have some time on my hands.
Not enough to do much, but a moment of fun keeps me as close to sane as I'll ever reach.
