As someone who is pretty darn ignorant when it comes to speakers I am trying to discern what I might expect the differences between Omega Monitors and Towers to be in terms of performance/fit.

Looking at the Super 8 XRS vs Super Alnico High Output Monitors.

Specifically they will be in a medium sized living room (couch, area rugs over hardwood, drapes, wall art etc.) - not able to be more than 18-20 inches form the front wall.

They will be powered by a Torii MKV (when it arrives)

Musically - they will be expected to play nearly every genre as I have a very diverse collection.

They are roughly the same price and have a similar sensitivity as far as I can see/read.

Based on your criteria I would lean towards the 8XRS Towers.

The comments on the Omega site describe the Super High Output Monitors in more technical terms and the 8XRS in practical terms. The 8XRS are described as “the RS5 on steroids”. That’s what causes me to lean toward the 8XRS.

I would discuss this with Louis and if you do, ask about the Vintage 8HO that are not on the site. They’re killer!

Other considerations; Will you get or do you have a ZROCK and/or a Preamp like the CSP3?

I came home and had another look at the Vintage HO speaker labels. They do have dual 8" drivers not 7" so they are in fact Vintage 8HO. These are the new 8" with Ferrite Magnet. I would ask Louis about these for your situation as well as the other two that you are considering.

I could foresee adding a ZRock2 in the future. I am hoping with the MKV I won't need a preamp, but we will see. Either way, I'd be in a for an extended wait period. I expect the Torii sometime this summer though.

Also, the Omen II from Zu seems to be a great contender with the Omega.
