Title: 16 OHM or 8 OHM?
Post by Dana on 06/11/21 at 15:55:25

I posted this earlier in the DIY section but it was suggested I post it here.

Thoughts?

I just bought a pair of Speaker Lab SK corner horns (Klipsch Khorn clones)

I'm planning to upgrade the top section with a different compression driver and then bi amp the bottom section with a SS amp.

My question is the drivers I'm looking at come in both 8 OHM and 16 OHM.  Does the SE84UFO care?  Is there an advantage of one over the other since I'm not connecting  multiple horns in parallel?

Thanks,
Danager

Go with 8!

Decware stuff likes low impendence.

I've ran a 2 ohm load (by mistake) with no problem before.

I run Klipsch Khorns with a 16 ohm 2" driver with great results, I had Steve install the UFO trannies into my SE84CKC amp and it is awesome!!!

IMO the amp isn't going to care very much either way. 8 vs 16 ohms would theoretically play at different levels, but since the UFO has a volume control it should be easy to match to your other driver.

Jcmusic
What 2 inch driver are you using?
Are you running a tweeter?
