Title: Schitt Mani underwhelming?
Post by Bob A on 02/12/21 at 14:40:22

Hello, first time posting here. I've had my SE84UFO for about a month. Streaming and cd's sound great, especially cd playback. However, the Fluance RT84 w/Ortofon blue through the Mani sounds somewhat flat, underwhelming compared to cd playback. I've tried several different genres of vinyl but literally gave up. My vinyl collection is small, about 75 albums so a Z3 is not a solution due to cost.
If anyone has some suggestions I would appreciate it !

Welcome Bob. Can you adjust the height of your tonearm and/or vertical tracking force? Sounds like you need to tweak your arm or cartridge set up to improve sound quality.

Thanks for replying HK!
Good point but I'm just comparing playback to my old NAD 326BEE amp setup and my vinyl sounded quite good. Of course my expectations were high going through the SE84UFO. The Fluance setup was quite easy but I haven't checked since I first purchase in April 2020. I will definetly revisit the TT setup.

HK, I went through the TT setup slowly after coffee! And whamo playback has more depth/dynamics than before. Only played a couple albums so far but results! Thanks for pointing me to what should have be the obvious :).

Not a problem. The Ortofon 2M Blue has plenty of output and the only other things could have been the Mani settings or perhaps a bad amp tube. Enjoy.

Bob A - Glad you got it sorted out and HK suggestion was spot on. If something is sounding flat with my vinyl rig I find it's always best to start with a set up check (before coffee for me!). Happy listening and enjoy the weekend, Chris.
